(ConservativeSense.com) – Hunter Biden planned to persuade the public that his position on the board of Burisma was uncontroversial because he didn’t stand to benefit financially. Uncovered emails from 2014 when the President’s son began sitting on the Ukrainian gas company’s board of directors, reveal that he planned to write an op-ed in which he would say he would not “gain anything as I am not an equity shareholder in the company.”
The claims were contradicted in separate emails dated around the same time when he acknowledged that the contract with Burisma would be lucrative. The day before he suggested writing the op-ed, a top executive at the firm wrote to directors saying they would be handsomely rewarded with “monthly fees.” Emails between Hunter Biden and his long-time associate Devon Archer also expose the pair’s plans to use their board membership for the highest financial gain possible.
The documents were published as part of the House Oversight Committee’s probe into Hunter Biden’s business dealings while his father was Vice President and whether President Biden used his influence in exchange for money. Records released by the committee reveal that Hunter Biden received millions of dollars from Burisma despite having no experience or expertise in the gas industry.
Furthermore, the Committee investigation has also found that then-Vice President Biden spoke to the board of directors numerous times and helped get a Ukrainian public prosecutor fired while he was investigating Burisma for corruption.
Viktor Shokin, the public prosecutor, was sacked just two weeks before Hunter Biden received lavish birthday presents from the company’s former President, Mykola Zlochevsky. Mr. Zlochevsky was the target of Mr. Shokin’s investigation and under suspicion of corruption, and President Biden would later boast about his role in firing the prosecutor pursuing him.
Hunter Biden told reporters on Capitol Hill in December that his father had never been involved in his business dealings, and the Oversight Committee would find no evidence against him because no evidence existed.
