(ConservativeSense.com) – Two Iranians who “raised red flags” with security services have been detained at the southern border as the terror threat rises across America. Both appear on the Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB), according to US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and are among several Iranians detained at the border since October 1.
The CBP says more than 30 Iranians, 60 Syrians, 35 Pakistanis, over 100 Russians, 285 Afghans, and almost 2,000 Chinese migrants have been apprehended at the border since the start of the 2023 fiscal year. Furthermore, 151 of those migrants are named on the Terrorist Screening Database.
The Department of Homeland Security warned last year that growing numbers of potential terrorists are entering America as “refugees” and “asylum seekers.” In its 2024 Homeland Threat Assessment report, published in September, the agency said numbers were up from last year and had reached record highs in December. “We have encountered growing numbers of individuals in the Terrorist Screening Data Set,” the agency said. The report also stated that most apprehensions were made by groups trying to enter the country via legal ports of entry.
FBI Director Christopher Wray is warning Americans to be extra vigilant and calling for law enforcement agencies to cooperate as the terror threat soars following the attack on Israel on October 7. During a speech at the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference in San Diego, Wray warned that domestic and international extremists pose a safety risk, particularly for Jews. “History has been witness to antisemitism and other forms of violent extremism for far too long,” he added.
In an official statement, the FBI said it does not have intelligence to suggest an imminent attack on the United States but will continue to monitor the situation closely and “share relevant information with our state, local, federal, and international law enforcement, intelligence, and homeland security partners.”
Meanwhile, GOP presidential candidate Ron DeSantis said America should not take any Palestinian migrants fleeing the Middle East war.
