(ConservativeSense.com) – Former Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has called on President Biden to show more respect and support for Israel. He specifically condemned the President for going ahead with a White House barbecue an evening after Israel suffered the worst attack on its people and territory since the Yom Kippur War five decades ago.
“To the president, turn off the barbecue and speak to the American people to be the leader the world is looking for,” McCarthy said. The former Speaker also suggested some policy proposals to the President and advised on how best the United States can support Israel at this time.
His plan includes making it clear to Hamas that harming any American will result in the “wrath” of the United States. He added that America must “confront Iran,” the primary funder of Hamas, and “resupply Israel.” McCarthy likewise condemned House Democrats, including Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, for bringing antisemitism into the heart of the US Congress.
Ilhan Omar of Minnesota has a long record of making antisemitic remarks, and McCarthy removed her from the House Foreign Affairs Committee as a result. She has compared Israel to the terror group Hamas and even likened the US to the Taliban. Following the attack on Israel on October 7, Omar and Democrat colleagues Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush issued statements condemning Israel as an “apartheid state.”
Senator Ted Cruz added his voice to the criticisms and said antisemitism is “normalized” in Congress thanks to Democrats on the radical hard left.
The Israeli Ambassador to the US, Michael Herzog, called out Rashida Tlaib on Twitter and asked her how much bloodshed it would take for her to condemn Hamas, a designated terrorist organization.
“Hundreds of innocent Israeli civilians were massacred in cold blood on a holy day. Babies were kidnapped from their mothers’ arms and taken to Gaza. An 85-year-old woman in a wheelchair and a Holocaust survivor were taken hostage. Is that not enough?” he asked.
