FBI Notified Of Disturbing Antisemitic Emails At UPenn

(ConservativeSense.com) – University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill revealed this week that the FBI is working with campus police to investigate a series of antisemitic threats emailed to staff, specifically citing Lauder College House and Penn Hillel, CBS News reported.

In a message to the UPenn community, Magill said the university’s Division of Public Safety completed sweeps of both Lauder College House and Penn Hillel and found no credible threat. Public Safety and the FBI are “working urgently” to identify those responsible for the emails to “ensure they are apprehended and punished,” Magill said.

According to Magill, the emails included “hateful language” directed at the recipients. As a result of the threats, Magill said there would be increased security throughout the campus.

In her message, Magill said violent threats would not be tolerated at UPenn and would be “met with swift and forceful action.”

Earlier this month, the university announced that it would implement new measures to prevent antisemitism on campus after a series of incidents, including vandalism and Nazi graffiti. In September, a student was taken into custody after causing a disturbance during a student-led Jewish prayer service at Penn Hillel.

UPenn Police and Allied Security will boost their presence at the Katz Center, Lubavitch House, Penn Hillel, and other religious spaces, Magill said. Additionally, security will be enhanced for any protests, rallies, vigils, and similar campus gatherings.

Magill said the surge in antisemitism on campus has caused “deep hurt and fear” among the Jewish students, staff, and faculty, “shaking their sense of safety and belonging” at the university.

The president personally condemned the “antisemitic acts and words,” describing them as “intolerable.”

Magill encouraged any students or staff who are threatened or in danger to contact the university’s Emergency Call Center, which is open 24/7.
