U.S. Destroys Nearly A Dozen Terrorist Drones

(ConservativeSense.com) – American troops have successfully taken down several Houthi drones around the Arabian Peninsula. US Central Command said it had engaged three “unmanned aerial vehicles” (UAV) from Houthi-controlled areas. They were intercepted over the Gulf of Aden, off the south coast of Yemen, where Houthis are engaged in a brutal civil war against their government.

No US personnel were killed or injured in the incident, but military leaders considered the drones a threat to United States vessels. America and its allies engage in frequent drone interception and destruction in the area, and on March 9, the US Navy shot down 15.

Britain’s Royal Navy, working alongside the US, destroyed a further two on the same day. On Twitter, the UK’s Defense Minister Grant Shapps said HMS Richmond had successfully repelled “yet another illegal attack” by the Iran-backed Houthis. French troops are also engaged in the region, where the Yemeni group has been bombarding commercial ships since last November.

The Houthis say their attacks are retaliation for Western support of Israel and a show of solidarity with Hamas – the designated terrorist group responsible for the assault on Israeli civilians on October 7.

The Houthis and Hamas, as well as several other Islamist groups, are funded and supported by Iran, which has repeatedly called for the destruction of the Jewish state. Tensions between Israel and Iran accelerated after the October 7 attacks and peaked again in April with the killing of a senior Iranian General in Syria. General Mohammed Reza Zehedi died during an Israeli assault on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, and Iran immediately vowed revenge.

Tensions are also rising inside Israel, where anti-government protests erupted on April 11. Thousands of Israelis filled the streets of Jerusalem, condemning the leadership of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose popularity is falling as he fails to secure hostage releases. Netanyahu is resisting calls for elections, saying they would impede efforts to dismantle Hamas and bring captives home.
