Trump Fires Back At Chris Christie As Campaign Mocks Former Governor’s Ad

( – Continuing their ongoing rivalry, former President Donald Trump took more shots at the former New Jersey governor recently, dubbing the fellow GOP candidate a “Sloppy RINO Dog,” whom Trump claims is mostly hated by voters in New Hampshire.

On Friday morning, Dec. 15, Trump wrote a scathing post on his social media platform, Truth Social, which ripped into Christie’s unsuccessful presidential campaign in 2016, mocking the former governor’s efforts in New Hampshire. The former president said that “Sloppy Chris Christie did so poorly” in the state during his 2016 run that “he dropped out” and endorsed Trump “immediately after the votes were counted.”

Christie finished in sixth place in New Hampshire during the 2016 Republican nominating contest with only 7.4% of the vote, while Trump claimed 35.2%, almost 20 points ahead of the second-place contender, former Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

Trump claims that New Hampshire still doesn’t like Christie, whom he called a “Sloppy RINO Dog,” and added that they also don’t like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is currently in second place overall in the 2024 Republican presidential primary polls in fifth place in New Hampshire. Trump sits unchallenged in first place at 44.3%, over 25 points ahead of former UN ambassador Nikki Haley. Christie, while ahead of DeSantis and newcomer Vivek Ramaswamy, is in third place at only 13%.

Christie is doing even worse in national polls, with a current favorability rating of 22% among the GOP and 62% marking him as unfavorable.

Trump’s campaign also ripped into Christie’s latest campaign advertisement, featuring a clip of the former governor from the last Republican debate in which Christie said the former president “is unfit” to serve in public office. The Trump War Room replied by calling Christie “out of shape.”

Trump and Christie, once allies, have been in an ongoing feud over the last few years. The two have exchanged insults on multiple occasions, taking shots at one another’s careers and even one another’s appearances. Trump has taken several digs at Christie’s weight, to which the former New Jersey governor replied that Trump should “look in the mirror.”
