Haley Campaign Rips Trump’s RNC Announcement

(ConservativeSense.com) – President Donald Trump recently selected three people who he recommended to head the Republican National Committee (RNC). Now, the campaign manager of Nikki Haley, his only remaining Republican opponent, is blasting the former president’s choices and said the GOP has mostly lost elections under Trump and its current leadership.

On Monday, Feb. 12, Trump endorsed the chair of the North Carolina Republican Party, Michael Whatley, to lead the RNC. He also recommended Lara Trump, his daughter-in-law, to become the RNC co-chair. She is the wife of Trump’s second son, Eric Trump.

The former president also endorsed Chris LaCivita for the position of chief operating officer of the Republican Party. He was one of the former president’s senior campaign advisers and formerly served as the National Republican Senate Committee’s political director.

Betsy Ankney, the campaign manager for Haley, had some choice words about Trump’s choices. She accused him of simply “rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic,” implying that the GOP is a sinking ship with a rotation of the same leadership. Ankey said that under the current RNC leadership and Trump’s presidency, Republicans have mostly lost elections, and the committee is now “effectively bankrupt.”

Ankney went on to say that Haley’s “plan for the RNC” is to “blow it all up.” She said everyone on the committee should be fired, and that Haley would launch “a full and complete audit” of the organizations, claiming a “gross misuse of funds.” Ankney also called for a more “formal application process” to select a new chair “based on merit, not on back-scratching.”

The campaign manager then claimed the RNC leadership is composed of “overpaid consultants” who are profiting off of the committee while failing to win elections. Haley’s team believes a complete overhaul is the only way for the party to “get back to winning.”

The endorsements from Trump come amid reports that the current chair of the RNC, Ronna McDaniel, is planning to step down after the primary election in South Carolina, Haley’s home state of which she was once governor.
