Woman Sets Fire Inside Police Station After Getting Ride After Crash

(ConservativeSense.com) – Police arrested a Massachusetts woman after she allegedly set fire to a donation box inside their station. Theresa Abichaker of West Roxbury was later charged with three counts of burning a public building, three counts of attempting to burn a public building, vandalizing property, and fire negligence. The 22-year-old was involved in a vehicle crash the same day and hitched a ride with a Westborough police officer when her car was towed.

Abichaker was a passenger in the crashed vehicle, and police said they transported her to the station at around 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, to allow her to wait in the lobby for transport home. Officers soon discovered a fire at the entrance to the building and called the Westborough Fire Department, which extinguished the fire but caused damage to the lobby. Ms. Abichaker had disappeared.

Officers examined surveillance footage to discover that Abichaker had “intentionally set a clothing donation box and its contents on fire.” A hunt for the suspect ensued using drones and a canine unit, and she was soon captured without further incident and detained on a $25,000 bond.

It is not known if Abichaker had a grievance with the police or what her motivations were, but fire assaults on police stations are disturbingly common and can be treated as domestic terrorism. During the Black Lives Matter riots in 2020, for example, several police departments were set alight, including in the hotspot cities of Minneapolis and Portland, Oregon.

In Portland, the epicenter of the rioting, the Portland Police Association building suffered severe damage when protestors set fire to it after weeks of continuous angry demonstrations by Black Lives Matter activists. The rioters surrounded the building with overturned dumpsters and set them alight.

When protestors set fire to police equipment and threw Molotov cocktails at officers in Atlanta in March, 35 were arrested and charged with domestic terrorism offenses. Such offenses can carry a prison term of between 40 and 100 years.
