TSA Director Arrested By US Customs And Border Protection

(ConservativeSense.com) – Authorities in Atlanta arrested a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) official for exploiting a relative suffering from dementia. Assistant Federal Security Director Maxine McManaman was detained after Christmas, along with alleged accomplice and father Delroy Chambers Sr., for falsifying documents in the relative’s name and forging signatures to transfer property ownership to themselves.

Delroy Chambers had already been arrested for the offense in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and charged with two counts of exploitation of an elderly or disabled adult, simple neglect, and two counts of forgery. Law enforcement detained McManaman at Atlanta airport under an arrest warrant, and she faces the prospect of third-degree felony charges.

The arrests came following an investigation that opened last April. Authorities allege that the father-and-daughter team McManaman and Chambers forged Mr. Chambers’s wife’s signature and signed her property over to them using a quitclaim deed. Chambers’ wife, who has not been named, has reportedly suffered from dementia for many years.

In a Facebook post, the Port St. Lucie Police Department stated, “The Grantor could not have signed the document on the date specified since the Grantor was determined to be in Atlanta, GA, on that date.”

A TSA spokesperson said the organisation holds its employees to the highest professional and ethical standards and “has no tolerance for misconduct on or off duty.”

According to the National Library of Medicine, the “prevalence of elder mistreatment among individuals with dementia is significantly higher than for older adults without dementia.” A study in 2023 found that financial exploitation of those experiencing cognitive degeneration was common and growing.

Data reveals that the mean age for victims of elder abuse was 85, and in 59% of cases, the abuse occurred within a parent-child relationship. Financial exploitation is the most common form of abuse and appeared in 47% of cases, the study found. In second place is psychological abuse, occurring in 12% of cases. Physical abuse accounts for 2% of cases, and sexual abuse for 1%.
