Archbishop Criticizes Biden, Uses Abortion As ‘Political Pawn’

(ConservativeSense.com) – The Bishop of Washington took aim at President Biden over the Easter holiday and called him a “cafeteria Catholic.” Speaking to Ed O’Keefe on CBS’ Face the Nation, the Bishop was asked if Biden resonates with American Catholics. He replied that the President picks and chooses aspects of the faith like people do in a cafeteria, selecting what they want and ignoring the rest.

Questioned further, Wilton Cardinal Gregory explained that President Biden ignores Catholic teaching on abortion and uses it as a political tool. He added that Catholicism teaches that life begins at conception and ends only at God’s will, but President Biden avoids taking a faithful standpoint on this “hot-button issue.”

A second contentious issue that upset many Christians over Easter was transgenderism. On Easter Sunday, the President celebrated “transgender day of visibility” on social media, prompting criticism from several lawmakers, as well as GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The President posted tweets on Easter Sunday “honoring” transgender Americans, whom he described as part of the “fabric” of US society. The Donald Trump campaign replied that posting such a message on the day Christians believe commemorates the resurrection of Christ is part of the Biden administration’s “years-long assault on the Christian faith.”

GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson was even more critical, describing the transgender celebration on Easter Sunday as “outrageous and abhorrent.” He warned the Biden administration that the American people are taking note of its disrespect for faith.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida made similar remarks and said Biden will remember his discourtesy toward Christians when he loses the November Presidential election.

White House spokesperson Andrew Bates replied to the condemnation, saying it did not surprise him. He said some politicians actively seek to divide Americans with “cruel, hateful, and dishonest rhetoric.”

Transgender day of visibility takes place on March 31 and has been running for 15 years. Its stated intention is to raise awareness of transgenderism and issues faced by transgender individuals.
