$106.7 BILLION “Budget” Announced For City!

(ConservativeSense.com) – NYC’s budget is estimated to increase to $106.7 billion in 2024, breaking records and indicating the city is in a deep crisis due to inflation, new labor deals, and the influx of migrants.

Formally announced on Wednesday by Mayor Eric Adams, the budget deal is $4 billion more than what Adams initially pitched in his fiscal proposal at the beginning of the year. According to the mayor, the spending increase will be offset by new state grants amounting to $1 billion going toward the $1.4 billion the city has already dished out to provide social services and shelter for migrants over the last year.

Before the budget rollout, Adams told reporters that “these are extremely challenging times.”

The major also recently criticized President Joe Biden and the federal government for failing to assist the city with handling the migrant crisis. He said that “the national government has turned its back on New York City,” and that “every service” in the city will be “impacted by the asylum seeker crisis.”

The anticipated spending increase of $4 billion comes as the mayor is now expected to admit that his last round of budget cuts was unsuccessful. Earlier this month, he ordered city agencies to cut roughly $1 billion annually for the next four years as part of his Program to Eliminate the Gap, which will impact various departments across the city that are lacking in resources, such as the Department of Sanitation and the Fire Department.

Although officials said one of the biggest tabs facing taxpayers will be paying for new and upcoming municipal labor union contracts, which could cost up to $17 billion over the next five years, the migrant crisis is why the city is struggling to meet these needs. Over the last year, over 50,000 migrants claiming asylum from danger in their home countries have crossed the border and ended up in NYC, creating many problems for the city, and it’s only getting worse.
