28 Different Sodas and Drinks Recalled – Mug Root Beer, Fiji Water and Powerade And More

(ConservativeSense.com) – The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recalled almost 30 drinks so far this year. In a recent FDA enforcement notice, for instance, four sodas from the Charles Boggini Company were simultaneously recalled. The stock withdrawal affected the company’s Pink Lemonade, Cola Flavoring Base, and Yellow Lemonade, all widely consumed in restaurants nationwide.

Reports note that the Biggini Pink Lemonade contains the ingredient FD&C No. 40 dye, which is linked to cancers, while FD&C Yellow No. 5, found in Yellow Lemonade, is known to cause allergic reactions in some consumers. Cola Flavoring Base contains sulphates connected to respiratory problems.

Additionally, reports on June 7 confirmed that tens of thousands of bottles of Fiji water were subject to recall due to the presence of manganese – a chemical metal – as well as three “bacterial genera.”

A spokesperson for The Wonderful Company, which owns Fiji, said most affected bottles were already off shelves or held in warehouses. Melissa England said the issue was related to just one distributor and “never posed any health or safety risk.”

The FDA also issued a recall notice for a pain-relief tea because it contained undeclared anti-inflammatory medications. The federal agency said Tapee Tea’s ingredients included dexamethasone and piroxicam – both drugs used to treat inflammation but with potentially serious side effects. Dexamethasone, for instance, at high doses, can detrimentally affect the adrenal gland. Piroxicam can impact the heart and increase the risk of cardiovascular events, including heart attacks and strokes.

After investigators found it contained high sugar content, Soda giant PepsiCo pulled stocks of its Schweppes Zero Sugar Ginger Ale in April. A week later, the company withdrew a second product for similar but opposite reasons. PepsiCo voluntarily recalled over 2,000 cases of Mug Root Beer when it discovered the cans contained the wrong drinks. They were actually filled with Mug Zero Sugar Root Beer.

One of the largest recalls was for 147,100 bottles of Gold Medal Apple Juice, which contained inorganic arsenic.
