DeSantis Attacks Washington at Inauguration

(ConservativeSense.com) – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis launched a scathing attack on “floundering” Washington, D.C. at his inauguration speech on January 3rd. He said that while much of the country was pessimistic because of bureaucracy in Washington, Florida was proof that the American people are not destined for failure.

Washington “wields its authority through a sprawling, unaccountable and out-of-touch bureaucracy that does not act on behalf of us, but instead looms over us and imposes its will upon us,” he said. His views will undoubtedly be shared by millions of Americans and his speech inevitably be seen as a pitch for the White House in 2024.

The Governor also took aim at extreme-Left “woke” culture and its dominance across the country, including in schools and colleges. He said, “Florida is where woke goes to die.”

DeSantis was sworn in for his second term accompanied by his wife and three children. He won the gubernatorial race last November with almost 60% of the vote, the largest margin since 2002. It was also one of the Republican Party’s biggest wins in the midterms that saw disappointing results in both House and Senate races. At a victory rally in Tampa, his supporters chanted “two more years”, implying he would not serve his full four-year term in Florida but would be entering the White House in 2024.

He has yet to declare whether he intends to run for the Presidency, but in surveys and polls conducted in key states, he has come out in front, including ahead of Donald Trump. Former President Trump has responded to this by disputing the polls and he drew criticism from conservatives when he labeled the Florida Governor “Ron DeSanctimonious” at a rally in Pennsylvania last year. “DeSantis is rising, and Trump is increasingly scared of being left for dead by the Republican Party,” said one GOP donor.
