(ConservativeSense.com) – Following President Biden’s presidential re-election campaign announcement, GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley called Biden the “weakest president in modern history.”
The former South Carolina governor and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations under former President Donald Trump gave an exclusive statement to Fox News Digital following Biden’s video announcement that he will be running for re-election.
Haley called Biden the “weakest president in modern history,” citing examples to back up her claim, such as “a disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal,” the “unprecedented border crisis,” as well as “the worst inflation in 40 years” and emboldening China as an enemy.
The 51-year-old presidential contender said it was “time to retire Joe Biden and make America strong and proud again,” taking another subtle jab at the president’s age. When Haley first announced her own campaign, she said that a “new generation” of leadership was needed in Washington, D.C. implying that Biden, 80, and her former boss, Trump, 76, are too old.
In February, following her campaign launch, Haley said that “America is not past our prime” but “that our politicians are past theirs” and that Congress members should be required to take “mental competency tests.” Recently dismissed CNN host Don Lemon was accused of misogyny after responding to these comments by saying Haley herself “isn’t in her prime” as a woman.
Haley’s comments came after Biden’s announcement that he and Vice President Kamala Harris will be running together for re-election in the 2024 presidential election. In the announcement video, they vowed to “finish the job” they started, sparking mixed reviews, with some criticizing the president’s handling of the country and others defending him.
It doesn’t seem Haley will have much of a chance of going up against Biden in the final election, though, while having to compete with Trump, who is substantially more popular and well-known, as well as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is expected to throw his hat in the ring.
