(ConservativeSense.com) – Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene posted an unusual tweet on Sunday, suggesting that her television may be spying on her.
According to her post on Twitter, Greene’s “television turned on by itself” at her residence in Washington, DC, and on the screen she saw “someone’s laptop trying to connect” to the device.
She added that “for the record,” she’s “very happy,” healthy, eats well, exercises a lot, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t take any medications, and isn’t vaccinated, so she’s not worried about “blood clots, heart conditions, strokes, or anything else.” Greene said she has nothing to hide, loves her country and its people, and knows “how much they’ve been screwed over” by those in the government who are corrupt, which she stated she won’t be quiet about or go along with it.
It’s unclear why Greene added these extra details, although the implication is that she didn’t hallucinate the experience and that perhaps she feels someone is after her and wanted to reassure her followers that she isn’t suicidal.
To support her claim, she later shared a link to a 2019 CBS article about a warning from the FBI that smart TVs may be spying on people. According to the article, the FBI warned that smart TVs, which are connected to the internet and have microphones, cameras, and sometimes facial recognition technology, are not often properly secured by manufacturers and can be hacked into.
Some criticized Greene as paranoid. A political analyst, Craig Agranoff, said her claims were “bizarre” and that the GOP representative has a history of “conspiracy theories” that the government spies on her. He also said she has a history of making outlandish claims and that “it’s possible. This is just another example of that.”
Whether or not the government is spying on Greene, she certainly isn’t incorrect when stating that smart TVs are vulnerable to being hacked and used by outside parties.
