What Everyone Should Know About Trump’s VP Pick

(ConservativeSense.com) – Media scrutiny of Donald Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, has intensified since the former President made his announcement. Commentators have zoned in on Vance’s previous derogatory remarks about Donald Trump and his contentious opinions on abortion and marriage. The Ohio Senator has been accused of advising women to remain in violent marriages and of opposing the abortion exceptions endorsed by Mr. Trump.

Vance entered the US Senate in 2022 and has spoken about his difficult childhood in Jackson, Mississippi, and Middleton, Ohio. He currently lives near Cincinnati with his wife, Usha Chilukuri, a fellow Yale Law School graduate, and their three children.

In 2016, Mr. Vance described himself as a “never Trump guy” and compared the former President to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. Additionally, he denounced Mr. Trump as “reprehensible,” “an idiot,” and “a cynical a**hole.” Some Trump supporters have expressed concerns on social media, asking why a candidate who had made such remarks should be chosen when other loyal and experienced Republicans were available.

In his first interview as Vice Presidential candidate, Senator Vance sought to clarify some of his remarks and insisted that the media had misrepresented his views. On abortion, he said he agrees with Donald Trump’s approach and is happy to leave individual states to decide. Nonetheless, abortion advocacy groups say a new Trump administration will be “the most dangerous” in American history.

Despite previously saying there should be no exceptions in cases of rape or incest, Vance told reporters last year that he accepts most people disagree and do not want blanket bans. “We have to provide exceptions,” he said.

Regarding concerns that he urged women to remain in violent relationships, Mr. Vance fiercely denied this, stating that he and his mother were victims of domestic violence. He clarified, however, that he believes parents should ideally stay together for their children’s sake. He described the “rejection of the American family” as the most “evil” thing the left has inflicted on the country.
