(ConservativeSense.com) – The White House issued a statement on Tuesday about the announcement of Hunter Biden’s federal plea deal.
The son of President Joe Biden will plead guilty to two misdemeanors for willfully evading payment of federal income tax and agreed to participate in a pretrial diversion program for a separate federal gun law violation.
Ian Sams, a spokesperson for the White House, gave a brief statement that President Biden and first lady Jill Biden “love their son” and that they “support him as he continues to rebuild his life.
Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson addressed the plea deal on Tuesday as well, on a recent episode of his new show on Twitter. Carlson pointed out what he described as a two-tier justice system because any ordinary American who committed the same crimes as the first son would not be getting away with a slap on the wrist. His main criticism of the plea deal is that the rules don’t apply to people in power the same way they apply to the average citizen.
Hip-hop artist Kodak Black’s lawyer also spoke out about the two-tier justice system made obvious by the first son’s plea deal. In an interview with Fox News Digital, criminal defense attorney Bradford Cohen said that “there’s no such thing” as avoiding jail time for “any kind of gun charge.”
Cohen also commented on an Instagram post in reaction to the plea deal announcement. He pointed out that “Kodak was charged for the same crime” and that he was sentenced to “over 3 years,” while Hunter “will not serve a day.” Cohen also asked the FBI and federal authorities if they “take cases personally.”
Kodak was pardoned by former President Donald Trump in 2021 right before leaving office. President Biden could technically pardon his son, although it’s unclear if he will have to resort to such measures considering the plea deal will keep Hunter out of prison.
