(ConservativeSense.com) – A video of a Spokane pastor saying parents of trans children should be shot has gone viral. Jason Graber of the Sure Foundation Baptist Church delivered a sermon entitled “In Defense of Children” at his church on April 23rd. He said parents who allow their kids to transition from one gender to another, including allowing them to have surgery or take puberty blockers, should be put on trial and, if convicted, shot in the back of the head. In addition, the pastor said their bodies should be hanged publicly as a warning to others.
Graber stated that there is no excuse for not putting some people to death, including gay people. He also condemned women with intimate partners before marriage, while encouraging young men to “go out and be independent.”
Dillon Awes made a similar call last year in Texas. The pastor of the Stedfast Baptist Church in Hurst said gay people were comparable to pedophiles and advocated the death penalty for all gay men. “We need to put these people to death through the proper channels of the government,” he said. He added that the method of execution should be a bullet to the back of the head.
The vast majority of Americans strongly reject such views. In 2022, support for gay rights was at its highest-ever level. This is similar across state lines and party affiliations. A poll by the Public Religion Research Institute in 2022 found that 79% of Americans support laws protecting gay people from discrimination. Gay marriage is supported by 68%.
There are developing concerns, however, about the so-called “LGBTQ community” and the rapid emergence of several “gender identities.” People are concerned about the erosion of women’s rights by trans activists in particular. Pew Research in 2022 revealed that 60% of Americans do not believe a person can change their gender. This remains the majority view across age and racial groups. Similarly, 60% think males should not be permitted to enter female sporting contests.
