(ConservativeSense.com) – During an interview last Friday with Russell Brand, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson said the riot at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6 was full of federal agents.
Brand, the actor and podcast host, conducted the first formal interview with Carlson since Fox News unceremoniously canceled Tucker Carlson Tonight, their highest-rated show. The cancellation of Carlson’s show caught audiences by surprise, and it was later confirmed that the decision was part of the settlement agreement in the Dominion Voting Systems v. Fox News Network case.
In February, Carlson was given over 40,000 hours of footage from January 6 by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, which he began combing through and airing while still on Fox.
While being interviewed by Brand, Carlson said he found the vandalism and violence on that day appalling, yet he began to comment critically on the events of that day and to ask questions because “the lying… was immediate.” Carlson said the entire event was inaccurately portrayed as a “racist, white supremacist insurrection.”
He then revealed that shortly before he was fired by Fox, he interviewed Steven Sund, chief of Capitol Police, who told Carlson that the crowd on Jan. 6 “was filled with federal agents. “Officially, his show was canceled before the interview could air, but Carlson said he’s going to interview him again.”
Carlson added that as more time passed, it became “really obvious that the core claims they made” about what happened at the Capitol “were lies.” He said “it was obvious” from the footage he aired that “the amount of lying… is really distressing.” One of the revelations to the American people from the footage Carlson aired on Fox was that not only were figures like the “Q-Anon Shaman” not immediately expelled from the Capitol building but were even escorted around by security.
As Democrats continue to perpetuate their narrative of what took place in D.C. that day, Carlson is one of the few larger voices pushing back against that narrative and asking questions.
