(ConservativeSense.com) – The son of a famous rap producer is throwing his support behind former President Donald Trump, at the risk of being alienated by his peers in the rap music industry, which is generally left-leaning politically.
Suge Jacob Knight recently posted an AI-generated picture of Trump as a black man captioned with “Free my n*gga Trump.” Although this will surely upset many in the industry, the comments on the post were generally positive. One replier wrote, “Hip-Hop loved Trump before politics told them not to.”
Knight is the son of producer Marion “Suge” Knight who is currently incarcerated in San Diego for voluntary manslaughter, serving a sentence of almost three decades after pleading no contest in 2018. In 2015, he killed one man and hospitalized another after crashing his car into them during the production of Straight Outta Compton, a film about the early rap scene in California. The man killed during the hit-and-run incident was Terry Carter, co-founder of Heavyweight Records with Marion.
Suge still keeps in contact with his father regularly and says he writes to him every day.
Trump pardoned a few well-known rap artists during his administration. On his last day in office, Trump released a pardon list of over 100 names, which included rappers Kodak Black and Lil Wayne. The White House was lobbied by Snoop Dogg, who is no fan of Trump, to pardon the convicted felon and co-founder of Death Row Records, Michael “Harry O” Harris. Trump followed through with the pardon and received praise from Snoop Dogg.
Trump received some criticism for pardoning people others felt did not deserve it, while whistleblowers like Julian Assange of Wikileaks were not given the honor of a presidential Get Out of Jail Free card. Trump also failed to pardon National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden who revealed a massive effort by the agency to surveil the American people.
