(ConservativeSense.com) – According to a new investigation and recently revealed documents, patients are being approved for hormones and transgender surgeries by medical professionals without actually confirming a diagnosis of gender dysphoria.
A producer for The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh, who once worked on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” as head writer, went undercover as a patient identifying as transgender. He contacted an online clinic, Plume Health, and told them he’s felt like a girl since childhood but never experienced the condition known as “gender dysphoria” for more than a few months at a time. This is important because, according to the DSM-5, the symptoms of dysphoria must persist for at least 6 months.
The Daily Wire producer told the Plume representative nurse during his video interview that he was being prescribed hormones for a year by his father, which the nurse said was “perfect.” And then, after an appointment that only lasted 22 minutes, he was given a recommendation letter approving him for an orchiectomy (the removal of his testicles) to “alleviate” his stated dysphoria.
The investigation found that telehealth services such as Plume Clinic and Folx Health will give patients a gender dysphoria diagnosis even if they don’t technically qualify according to the DSM-5 criteria. Such a diagnosis is needed for patients to have transfusion procedures and drugs covered by insurance.
It was confirmed to the Daily Wire by Folx that although a gender dysphoria diagnosis was required for insurance companies to cover transgender surgeries, the diagnosis may not always apply to some patients who identify as trans.
In April, Project Veritas released a nationwide undercover investigation conducted over a few months that proved that doctors were administering drugs and surgeries to minors and even discussing providing puberty blockers to children as young as 8.
Across the nation, Republicans are pushing back against these so-called “treatments” for minors, while Democrats accuse them of denying these children “lifesaving care.”
