(ConservativeSense.com) – Video footage has appeared online showing the moment Houthi terrorists struck an oil tanker in the Red Sea. The Islamist group targeted three vessels in the Red and Mediterranean seas, striking them with ballistic missiles and drones. Spokesman Yahya Saree said the attacks were revenge for an Israeli airstrike on the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis, which killed roughly 90 Palestinians. The Liberian-owned Chios Lion oil tanker was struck on its port side and was severely damaged, raising concerns about oil spillage.

The Yemeni Houthis started attacking vessels in the Red Sea last year, vowing to disrupt shipping and commerce in retaliation for Western support for Israel. The group also claimed responsibility for an assault on Tel Aviv in the early hours of July 19, killing one and injuring dozens. Israeli defense minister Yoav Gallant immediately declared that his country would “settle the score.” The incident marks a significant escalation in the Middle East conflict, experts warn, and is the first successful direct Houthi attack on Israeli territory.

Israeli officials confirmed that the drone used in the Tel Aviv strike was manufactured in Iran and struck the center of the city, close to the US Embassy. Israeli Defense Force (IDF) spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, said an investigation was underway to determine what “are the needed responses to defend the country.”

Mr. Hagari was forced to deny Houthi claims that it is now capable of sidestepping Israel’s famed aerial defense system, the Iron Dome. A military official said that “human error” allowed the Houthi drone to reach Tel Aviv, prompting concern from some of the city’s residents.

Yossi Nevi, from Kiryat Shmona, was awoken by the blast and told reporters that the IDF’s “human error” explanation made him question their ability to defend Israel. He said the incident caused him to lose “all trust in the army.” Eldad Namdar, who owns a business close to the attack site, urged the IDF to “finish this situation.”
