Porsche Recall Details
Porsche Cars North America has issued recalls for more than 18,000 vehicles due to potential airbag and rearview camera issues. Models affected include 9,735 Taycan vehicles from 2022 to 2023 and 8,571 Macan crossovers from 2024 to 2025. Both recalls address manufacturing errors that could compromise passengers’ safety and violate federal vehicle standards.
The Taycan recall stems from a fault in the occupant classification system, potentially deactivating the front passenger airbag. Porsche offers free replacement of the front seat cushion at dealerships. The Macan recall concerns software errors hindering the rearview camera image and potential defects in its housing, leading to moisture intrusion.
Statement and Customer Notification
Porsche issued a statement on the situation, according to Fox News Business, saying, “The safety of our customers is of the utmost importance. For this reason, we continuously conduct spot checks during production and monitor customer vehicles for irregularities, and react quickly when issues are identified. This is a critical part of a functioning culture of putting safety first.”
Owners of affected vehicles will receive notifications starting June 6, 2025, with guidance on repairs provided at no cost to customers.
Audi Recalls
In a related development, Audi has recalled 44,387 vehicles from the 2021 model year due to potential failures in the instrument panel display, attributed to software errors. Audi offers free software updates to rectify the problem. Notification letters will be sent to Audi owners by late May.
No injuries or accidents associated with these recalls have been reported so far. The Porsche vehicles impacted are still under warranty, and no reimbursements for previously incurred repair costs will be issued.
