NBC Announces Ronna McDaniel Is Out Just Days After Hiring

(ConservativeSense.com) – NBC News has announced the departure of Ronna McDaniel just days after hiring her as a contributor. McDaniel, the former chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, is said to be looking at her legal options after she was fired following staff complaints. The talent agency that negotiated her contract with the network has also dropped her.

Network chairman Cesar Conde announced McDaniel’s departure in a memo to employees following an on-air backlash by hosts. Mr. Conde said the newsroom could not function effectively with such hostility, but he also stated that he would continue to pursue a range of views and political standpoints and was committed to free and open debate.

Tensions peaked when McDaniel appeared on Meet the Press with Kristen Welker, during which the host pushed the Republican to acknowledge that Joe Biden won the 2020 Presidential election “fair and square.” McDaniel did just that, but it was not enough to assuage fellow hosts, who wanted her dismissed regardless. Morning Joe host Mika Brzezinski, for example, described Ms. McDaniel as “an anti-democracy election denier” who should not be on air.

Rachel Maddow, Joe Scarborough, and political director Chuck Todd all added their voices and condemned the decision to bring McDaniel on board.

Some Republicans, including Presidential candidate Donald Trump, reacted furiously to McDaniel’s firing. The former President described the “radical left” as “crazy” and said America needs a “free and fair press.”

Some media figures also expressed astonishment, with former Fox contributor Geraldo Rivera aiming his condemnation at Rachel Maddow, whom he accused of promoting “malignant wokeism.” He said God did not appoint Maddow as the arbiter of what is or isn’t appropriate for mainstream television.

Similarly, talk show host Hugh Hewitt stated that he had not seen anything so brutal since he entered the media fray back in 1990. He encouraged Ms. McDaniel to sue the network for breach of contract and defamation. “I think they’ve made a terrible decision,” he added.
