(ConservativeSense.com) – Elon Musk, the SpaceX founder and owner of the social media platform X, announced that he would be relocating the headquarters of both companies to Texas after a recent law signed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom that allows school districts to keep information from parents about their child who may be confused about their so-called “gender identity.”
On Monday, July 15, Newsom signed AB 1955 into law in the Golden State, also known as the Support Academic Futures and Educators for Today’s Youth (SAFETY) Act.
One of the policy’s goals is to stop the “forced outing” of students to their parents regarding sexuality and gender identity. The law rolls back requirements that schools must notify a student’s parents if they are confused about their gender or sexual identity. Specifically, it rolls back requirements by schools to inform parents if their child decides to go by a different name or alternate pronouns while at school than what is listed on their birth certificates.
Musk responded to the news the next day and said it was “the final straw” for him. He announced that due to the new law and “many others” preceding it from Newsom’s administration, which Musk said attacked “families and companies,” he will now be moving the SpaceX headquarters to Starbase, Texas, from its current location in Hawthorne, California. Musk added that he made it clear to Newsom a year prior that many laws signed by the governor would force people to leave the state “to protect their children.”
In a follow-up post, Musk also announced that the headquarters for X (formerly Twitter) would leave San Francisco and relocate to Austin. He said one of the reasons for this is the increase in crime in the area due to Newsom’s legislation. Musk said he was tired of “dodging gangs of violent drug addicts” to enter and leave the building.
A couple of days before this announcement, Musk also officially endorsed former President Donald Trump for the 2024 race following the attempted assassination of Trump.
