(ConservativeSense.com) – House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has visited the southern border and lashed out at Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, telling him to stop lying about the escalating migration crisis.
Speaking from Arizona, McCarthy did not specify what lies he believed Mayorkas had told, but he has previously called for the Secretary to resign following strong criticism from Republicans for testifying to Congress that the border is secure. Some GOP Members have said he should be impeached, though McCarthy has stopped short of making that demand.
The Speaker’s press conference took place on a ranch whose owner said he has found 14 dead bodies on his property in the last couple of years. McCarthy blames both Mayorkas and the President for the shocking situation he found. “What has changed between Trump and Biden?” he asked.
Arizona is also the setting for an official border hearing that Democrats have refused to attend. The House Judiciary GOP, on its Twitter account, said Democrats are too scared to face the reality of the crisis.
Democrats are being forced to face that reality however in San Francisco where they have said they aim to suspend the city’s “sanctuary” status to allow Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to deport illegal migrants who are found to be dealing in Fentanyl. The current policy of San Francisco is to disallow the deportation of aliens under almost all circumstances.
However, city Supervisor Matt Dorsey has had a change of heart upon realizing how much street dealing involves Honduran migrants, most of them in the United States unlawfully. Fentanyl has killed more than 1,400 people in San Francisco since 2020.
The city’s current sanctuary law places limits on when officials can inform ICE of the release of certain illegal immigrant convicts from prison. ICE will only be informed in cases of serious crime such as murder or rape. The new proposal would add Fentanyl dealing to that list.
