(ConservativeSense.com) – Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham expressed concerns about US national security after President Joe Biden’s performance last month on the debate stage with former President Donald Trump and believes the president and others “in the line of succession” should undergo cognitive tests.
On Sunday, July 7, Graham appeared on the CBS show “Face the Nation” and said that most of those concerned about the debate surrounding the president’s health are worried about the “national security implications.” The GOP senator said that while most of the Democratic Party is worried about their candidate “winning the election,” his main worry is actually Biden remaining in office “for the next four months.”
After Biden’s shaky and questionable performance on the debate stage against Trump on June 27, many Democratic lawmakers and pundits immediately went into panic mode after realizing they were no longer able to hide Biden’s obvious decline in contrast to the former president. Five House Democrats have already called on Biden to drop out of the race.
Graham said he would “like to see” Biden tested on his cognitive abilities and suggested that everyone else “in the line of succession” for the highest office should also undergo regular neurological exams. When asked if that included Trump as well, Graham answered affirmatively, stating that all presidential nominees should be examined.
The GOP Senator said he is also worried that America’s allies and its enemies are seeing a commander-in-chief who is “compromised,” leaving the country in a vulnerable position. Graham said Biden, who has refused to drop out of the race, was “in denial” about his health. He also said that by remaining in office and “leading the ship,” Biden was putting the country in danger.
Graham cited recent polls showing that around 70% of the public doesn’t believe Biden to be “mentally and physically capable” enough to lead the nation. He also cited the report by special counsel Robert Hurr that determined Biden wasn’t even fit enough to stand trial because a jury would perceive him as an old man with a bad memory.
