(ConservativeSense.com) – A reporter confronted UFC president Dana White with questions about a recent incident between two fighters during UFC 290 over “racial undertones,” which White dismissed.
After UFC fighter Dricus Du Plessis defeated Robert Whittaker last Saturday night with a technical knockout, White brought Israel Adesanya, the current middleweight champion, into the octagon to face off with Du Plessis as a potential future opponent. Adesanya, who is Nigerian, repeatedly called Du Plessis the n-word during the confrontation and also referred to him as his “African brother.” Du Plessis, who is white, is from South Africa.
White was asked about the racial tensions between the two fighters by a reporter during a press conference after the UFC event. The reporter said he knows it’s just “fight business” and it’s normal for fighters to “say nasty things,” but asked if there were “racial undertones” behind the exchange. The reporter also noted that Adesanya said the n-word 15 times.
The question was brushed off by White, who pointed out that Adesanya is black and then said, “Who gives a s***?” White added that he doesn’t care, that it’s just “fight business,” and that Adesanya “can say whatever he wants.” White then asked why people were “b****ing” about it and ended by saying, “Too f***ing bad.”
The UFC president is no stranger to political controversy. That same night, he entered the UFC arena accompanied by a surprise guest: former President Donald Trump. Trump’s appearance created a stir, of course, with many attendees approaching the former president for a few words and photo ops.
Musician Jack White criticized everyone who interacted with Trump as “disgusting” for “normalizing” his presence at the event, although Trump has a long history of attending fighting sports events. The White Stripes frontman made a statement listing celebrities who attended UFO 290 and spoke with Trump, including podcast host and MMA commentator Joe Rogan, as well as actors Mel Gibson and Mark Wahlberg.
