It’s a TSUNAMI – And It’s NOT Slowing Down

(ConservativeSense.com) – The great exodus from Democratic-run states over the last few years continues, and for the first time, the state of Florida is currently beating New York in providing the most employment opportunities.

For the first time since the Bureau of Labor Statistics began recording and reporting employment numbers in 1982, Florida has the most jobs of any state, beating out New York. Within the period of a year, between the summer of 2021 and 2022, nearly half-a-million people moved to the Sunshine State, showing an increase of more than 180,000 from the prior year.

Over 64,000 New Yorkers alone moved to Florida in 2022, more than any other year in American history.

The old trope used to be that grandparents and retired folks moved to Florida to relax, but that is no longer merely the case. Many people made their way to states like Florida because of the strict pandemic lockdowns and mandates in their own states, with lots of people leaving their jobs or even being fired for refusing the vaccine or to comply with mask mandates.

The Sunshine State continues to grow, and it’s young people who are driving that growth as they seek new job opportunities, different laws to live under, lower taxes, and other benefits they see in the state.

Since the pandemic, although the country is in a general economic decline, Florida is doing better than most states and seems to be prospering in comparison. The policies of Gov. Ron DeSantis are a big reason for this, and he’s touting his handling of the pandemic as a major selling point during his 2024 presidential run.

DeSantis wrote about what he did in Florida in his new book, and how these policies can be applied to the rest of the country. Whether or not his success in Florida as governor will be enough to convince Americans he will be as effective in the White House remains to be seen.
