House Democrats Afraid of Their Republican Colleagues Carrying Firearms

(ConservativeSense.com) – Since the recent removal of magnetometers at the House of Representatives, multiple House Democrats claim they now fear for their lives, implying their Republican colleagues are a threat to their safety. Rep. Eric Swalwell of California stated last week that “there could be a mass shooting on the House floor” and pointed the finger at the GOP, referring to them as “conspiracy-believing lawmakers.”

Swalwell claimed his colleagues in the GOP “glorify violence” by proudly displaying firearms in their offices, which makes him nervous of “a workplace violent event.” He went on to say that these Republican representatives are “not the most stable people.”

Following the events of Jan. 6th, 2021, magnetometers were installed outside the House floor for the first time in the history of the United States to scan lawmakers, normally allowed to bypass perimeter checkpoints. The decision also followed an announcement by three House members (Lauren Boebert, Madison Cawthown, and Majorie Taylor Greene) that they intended to carry their firearms wherever they pleased.

Now that the magnetometers have been removed, media outlets such as the left-leaning Raw Story are pushing the narrative that “Q-Anon Republicans” will shoot their Democrat colleagues. Of course, Swalwell was not the only lawmaker to imply that would be the case. Rep. David Cicilline of Rhode Island told Raw Story there was an “increase in political violence” in the country, and that he has a responsibility “to make sure that when people come to work… they could do so safely and free from fear of violence, particularly gun violence” which should “concern everyone.”

Rep. Dan Kildee of Michigan referred to his GOP colleagues as “a frightening group of people,” going on to reference Jan. 6th, before which he says he “used to assume that nothing crazy could happen here.”

Swalwell appeared on MSNBC’s Alex Wagner the very same day the Raw Story article was published, yet his seemingly irrational fear of Republican House members was not questioned and has gone mostly unnoticed by mainstream media. One has to wonder why? Perhaps it’s because they are in general consensus that only the Republicans can be the “dangerous ones” due to their support for 2nd Amendment rights.
