(ConservativeSense.com) – Concern about President Biden’s health is growing following his fall at a US Air Force Academy event on June 1st. The President fell as he walked away from the podium following his speech. He was helped to his feet but appeared to struggle to get back up. A White House communications director blamed a sandbag on the stage and said the President was “fine.”
The incident provoked a social media storm, with one commentator describing Biden’s campaign for the White House in 2024 as “elder abuse.” Another Twitter user said, “Democrat apparatchiks who continue to push this decrepit puppet as our Commander-in-Chief and want four more years for him are reckless beyond words.”
It is not the first time the President has suffered a fall in public. He famously stumbled up the stairs of Air Force One in 2021, which the White House dismissed as windy weather. In 2022, he fell from a bicycle in front of a bank of phone cameras. The White House blamed that incident on the President catching his foot in the peddle.
The latest fall however has prompted an unprecedented outpouring of apprehension – including from President Biden’s allies. Democrats have expressed discomfort about his age since before he announced he would run again in 2024. In a poll in April, 73% said he shouldn’t stand for the Presidency again, and the number one reason was his age.
The President’s most likely opponent will be Donald Trump, who is 76. President Biden famously said “Watch me” when anxieties about his ability to lead the US were raised. He even mocked Donald Trump for walking slowly and carefully down a ramp in 2020. “Look at how he steps and look at how I step. Watch how I run up ramps, and he stumbles down ramps. Come on,” Biden said. By contrast, when Trump heard about Biden’s latest fall on the campaign trail in Iowa, he said, “I hope he wasn’t hurt.”
