(ConservativeSense.com) – After the announcement of a plea deal for President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee said on Tuesday that the committee will continue investigating the president and his son.
In a statement following the plea deal announcement, Chairman James Comer said that the charges brought against Hunter Biden by the Department of Justice “reveals a two-tiered” justice system. Comer said the president’s son “is getting away with a slap on the wrist” despite the increasing evidence that the House Oversight Committee have uncovered, which shows that the Biden family is “engaged in a pattern of corruption,” selling their influence, and even bribery.
Comer described the charges as a “sweetheart plea deal” and said it will “have no impact” on the committee’s investigation and commitment to uncovering the truth and holding the president and his son accountable. He said the committee “will not rest” until it’s revealed how much the president was involved in his “family’s schemes.”
The 53-year-old first son agreed that he would plead guilty to two charges of federal tax violation and one charge of violating gun laws. The deal will require Hunter to admit he knowingly failed to pay income tax to the federal government and to participate in a “diversion program” because he mishandled a firearm.
A trial and jail time will most likely be avoided by pleading guilty to the misdemeanor charges. It’s also possible for the president to pardon his son to avoid criminal consequences, although critics will surely accuse Biden of nepotism if he takes this route.
Hunter also received another victory this week by convincing Lunden Roberts, an ex-stripper with who he fathered a child, to accept lower child support payments and to drop her case to have their daughter’s last name changed to Biden.
Under Comer, the committee seems intent on continuing to scrutinize the Biden family, especially after multiple shell companies were discovered to have wired money to nine members of the Biden family from foreign entities.
