Greta GETS IT – Climate Activist Faces Music!

( – Police carried away climate activist Greta Thunberg after she attempted to disrupt the path of oil tankers in her native Sweden. Ta Tillbaka Framtiden (Take Back the Future) organized the protest in Malmo in the southwestern tip of the Scandinavian nation. The activists lay on a street, preventing trucks from passing to the harbor.

Thunberg sat through the protest for three days before police took her away. She frequently posted updates on her Twitter account.

Echoing the sentiments expressed in the Swede’s famous UN speech, Irma Kjellström, spokesperson for Ta Tillbaka Framtiden, said, “We young people have had enough – it’s time that those who threaten all our chances and dreams are stopped.”

Thunberg shot to international fame when she made an impassioned speech at the United Nations in 2019. She famously asked “How dare you?” to the leaders gathered and told them they care only about “fairytales of eternal economic growth.” She told her audience that her dreams have been stolen from her. The teenager received global press coverage for her efforts.

In the same week, a group of 500 scientists wrote to the United Nations saying there is no climate emergency and carbon dioxide, far from being a poison that needs to be dramatically reduced, is, in fact, the source of plant life and therefore the source of life. This received very little media coverage.

The Swedish activist grew up with socialist parents and is said to have suffered from severe anxiety and depression since childhood – partly kickstarted by teachers telling her the world was soon to end. “She stopped talking… she stopped going to school,” her father said. Her activism has made her happier, he added.

Now in her 20s, Thunberg sits firmly on the left wing of politics and frequently denounces capitalism while calling for “climate justice.” In 2018, she posted a tweet with a message that the world would end within five years. In 2023, she deleted the tweet.
