Governor Orders State To Track Taxpayer Cost Of Illegal Aliens

( – Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry has ordered state agencies to track how much taxpayer money is spent on migrants. Governor Landry signed an executive order on January 16 stating that the United States, like any other nation, has the right to determine the number and character of migrants entering its territory.

It goes on to state that illegal entry to the US is a federal offense, “and those who aid and abet those offenses also commit a criminal act.” The order directly accuses the Biden administration of enacting policies “designed to undermine the rule of law.” Landry calls on the President to defend the Constitution and execute the nation’s laws.

In terms of costs, the executive order notes that, according to Congressional reports, American taxpayers spend approximately $451 billion every year to foot the bill for illegal immigration. Governor Landry now wants to inform Louisiana residents how much they pay and exactly where the money goes.

According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), there are around 97,000 illegal aliens in the state of Louisiana, as well as 34,000 “anchor”babies”—children born in the United States to illegal immigrant parents. FAIR adds that the average cost per immigrant is $4,600, which amounts to approximately $346 per taxpayer.

Additionally, migration to the Pelican State has added 23,000 extra pupils to its schools, costing around $347 million. Policing and law enforcement add another $86 million to the tally.

Mr. Landry is one of America’s most outspoken opponents of illegal immigration and is a fierce proponent of the construction of a wall along the southern border. He has called for a ban on Muslim migrants unless they can be vetted, said children of illegal immigrants should not become citizens, believes all immigrants should be obliged to learn English, and believes sanctuary cities should receive no federal funding.

Congressional reports on illegal immigration state that between 16 and 29 million unlawful aliens are living in the United States.
