(ConservativeSense.com) – Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley accused the Biden administration of attempting to appease China and questioned why President Biden would send Cabinet officials on “embarrassing” visits to the country, The Hill reported.
While appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union” last Sunday, the former UN Ambassador told host Jake Tapper that she views China as an enemy and argued that the country has been “practically preparing for war” with the United States “for years.”
Haley said President Biden has to get serious with China rather than try to appease Beijing by sending members of his cabinet to visit the country.
Haley noted that the president sent Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo to China just weeks after her emails were hacked by the Chinese. She asked how much more China has to do before President Biden stops trying to appease Beijing, noting that China flew a spy balloon over the United States and has set up a spy base in Cuba.
In outlining how she would deal with China if she is elected president, Haley said she would prevent China from purchasing land in the United States and would address its infiltration of American colleges and universities. Haley added that she would end normal trade relations with China until it stopped the flow of fentanyl into the United States.
Haley also vowed to build up the US military, especially now that China has “the strongest naval fleet in the world.”
While appearing on CBS’s “Face the Nation” last Sunday, Vice President Kamala Harris defended the Biden administration’s position on China, dismissing the current tensions as what should be expected “in a competition of any sort.”
Harris told CBS’s Margaret Brennan that the United States is not seeking a conflict with China and insisted that competition should not be conflated with conflict.
