(ConservativeSense.com) – Creditors have accused former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani of giving money to his girlfriend while failing to pay off his debts. Giuliani filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last year when a legal loss left him with a $148 million debt to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, whom a court said he had defamed. Mr. Giuliani appealed the ruling, but US District Court Judge Beryl Howell upheld it in April.
Freeman and Moss took the former Mayor to court, saying his insistence that Joe Biden’s 2020 victory in Georgia was illegitimate made the election workers’ lives unbearable and subjected them to death threats.
Ruby Freeman received several threatening messages after Giuliani tweeted a video clip showing her counting votes in the Peach State, interspersed with fraud allegation audio. The former election staffer said she was forced to vacate her home when the FBI told her she was not safe. In court, she testified, “I took it as though they were going to hang me with their ropes on my street.”
Now Mr. Giuliani’s creditors are asking the courts to appoint a trustee to oversee his financial affairs, a move he strongly opposes. Court documents claim that the Trump ally is “using his income to pay the salaries of his reported girlfriend and her daughter.” Maria Ryan co-hosted a now-canceled Giuliani radio show, and her daughter Vanessa Fenderson has criminal charges pending against her in North Carolina for alleged drug offenses.
Attorneys further claim that Giuliani is not transparent and fails to provide full details about providing funds to the two women. They argue that payment for any of his work should go toward his estate and debts, not his “girlfriend, his girlfriend’s daughter, or any other third party.”
Requesting a trustee, lawyers accused Mr. Giuliani of incompetence, dishonesty, and gross mismanagement of his affairs. They emphasized that a trustee appointment is a matter of protecting creditors rather than punishing the former Mayor.
