FBI’s Renewed Call for Information

The FBI is urging the global community to help locate Hamza Al Ghamdi, a former close associate of Osama bin Laden. Al Ghamdi, who was allegedly part of bin Laden’s security detail and operated al-Qaeda guesthouses near Kabul, remains elusive despite ongoing efforts to track him down for questioning.

Al Ghamdi, believed to use several aliases, has participated in armed conflicts in Afghanistan and Tajikistan. The State Department has offered a $5 million reward for information that leads to his capture. The FBI clarifies that this Hamza Al Ghamdi is different from the terrorist on United Airlines Flight 175.

Justice and Remembrance

Christie M. Curtis, Acting Assistant Director of the FBI’s New York City Field Office, emphasized the agency’s persistent effort to seek justice for the victims of 9/11. She stated, “We have not forgotten,” highlighting the FBI’s mission to continue seeking “justice for the victims of the September 11th attacks.”

The FBI Agents Association (FBIAA) also marked the 23rd anniversary, issuing a statement that remembered the victims and honored the dedication of first responders. Special tribute was paid to 9/11 heroes like FBI Special Agent Leonard “Lenny” Hatton and former FBI Special Agent John P. O’Neill.

Ongoing Support for 9/11 Victims and First Responders

The FBIAA acknowledged the continuing struggles of over 60,000 emergency responders who have been diagnosed with 9/11-related illnesses, including more than 300 FBI employees. The association remains committed to supporting those affected and facilitating access to essential assistance and benefits.

The association strongly encourages all Agents to register with the World Trade Center Health Program and Victims Compensation Fund to ensure they receive the necessary care and support. The resilience and unity of FBI Agents, employees, and other first responders continue to inspire the ongoing mission to protect and serve the American people.
