Donald Trump’s Endorsement Just Took A Surprising Turn

( – Several Republican lawmakers have added their names to the growing list of endorsements of Donald Trump. Rep. Greg Steube from Florida is among them. His support for Trump will likely be a blow to the Governor of the Sunshine State, Ron DeSantis, the leading challenger to the former President.

“He’s the only person that can reverse, on day one, all of these disastrous policies of the Biden administration, and the type of things that have happened under the Biden administration would have never happened under President Trump,” he said. He added that there is widespread support for Trump in the district he represents and throughout Florida.

Steube is one of many Floridians to get behind the former president. Congressman Matt Gaetz even asked DeSantis to drop his White House ambitions for now and support the embattled Mr. Trump. Gaetz said that Trump was the only person who could have beaten Hillary Clinton and the only one who could prevent a second Biden term. In addition, Gaetz said the country would be far safer with Trump at the helm now and DeSantis further down the line.

Floridians Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, Rep. Byron Donalds, and Rep. Cory Mills have all added their voices to the Trump campaign. In addition, Mr. Trump has recently won the support of Sen. Marsha Blackburn, Sen. Bill Hagerty, Rep. Diana Harshbarger, and Rep. John Rose—all from Tennessee.

The latest polls are mixed. Several have placed Trump ahead of Biden, but a Public Opinion Strategies survey on April 13th shows the former president coming in behind the current president in the key swing states of Arizona and Pennsylvania. The same survey could provide a boost to Team DeSantis as the Florida governor convincingly beats Biden.

In Pennsylvania, DeSantis leads Biden by 45% to 42%, while Trump is behind at 42% to 46%. Results are similar in Arizona. DeSantis leads Biden 48% to 42%, while Trump once again trails the president by 44% to 45%.
