Democrats Upset Biden Used Term ‘Illegal’

( – Democrats expressed outrage at President Biden’s use of the word “illegal” during his State of the Union address when he referenced the murder of 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley in Georgia. During the speech, Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene shouted Ms. Riley’s name and the President replied, but wrongly named the murder victim as “Lincoln Riley” before adding that she had allegedly died at the hands of an “illegal.”

Biden went on to argue that amnesty should be provided to the millions of illegal immigrants in the United States, but nevertheless, some Democrats took to social media to denounce the President for his use of language.

Among these was Rep. Chuy Garcia of Illinois, who said he was “disappointed,” while Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rep. Delia Ramirez of Illinois both stated that “no human being is illegal.” Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington and Rep. Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts said President Biden should not use “Republican rhetoric.”

In a later interview, President Biden said he regretted using the term. He also defended criticizing the US Supreme Court during the speech over its decision to overturn Roe v Wade. He told MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart, “I think they read the Constitution wrong. I think they made a mistake.”

Meanwhile, Donald Trump lashed out at Biden for wrongly naming Laken Riley. Trump said the President had confused the murder victim with California football coach Lincoln Riley. The former President met with Laken Riley’s family in Georgia, and at a rally outside Atlanta, Trump supporters held up posters stating, “Say Her Name.”

Trump also condemned Biden for apologizing for using the word “illegal” but not for misnaming the Georgia student who was beaten to death near the University of Georgia campus in February. Mr. Trump not only called the alleged killer “an illegal,” but said he should never have been in America and would not have entered the country if he was in the White House.
