Dem Rep Gives Kamala Harris Glowing Endorsement

(ConservativeSense.com) – President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race last weekend and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to take his place as the Democratic Party candidate. The endorsement was supported by Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina, one of a number of lawmakers to back the vice president.

On Sunday, July 21, the official social media pages for the president shared a letter announcing that he would not seek re-election. Although the withdrawal from the race was something many lawmakers, even within the Democratic Party, were already calling for, it came rather suddenly, leaving Americans questioning what comes next. In a post, Biden endorsed Harris to take his place as the Democratic Party’s nominee, after which other endorsements for the vice president immediately began pouring in.

One of those endorsements came from Clyburn, who posted a statement about the news on the same day. Clyburn wrote that it was his “honor” to call Biden his friend and that he “could think of no one” else with the same “integrity” and commitment “to fundamental principles” when he endorsed Biden in 2020. Clyburn said Biden “used those principles” to unite the country through difficult trials.

Clyburn went on to list what he believes are successes of the Biden administration, from healthcare and education reforms to fixing roads and fighting gun violence. The congressman said Biden “improved” countless Americans’ lives through “selfless service” and thanked him. He then went on to note that Biden had “good judgment” by selecting Harris as a running mate, and he was proud to follow his lead by endorsing her.

The Democratic congressman was one of the earliest vocal supporters of Biden in 2020 and helped elect him. He now joins a growing list of those endorsing Harris. On Tuesday, July 23, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer joined him in throwing his weight behind Harris. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York also endorsed the Vice President..

Harris also pulled in support from the majority of delegates leading up to the Democratic National Convention. It’s still unknown whether any other Democrats will come forward to challenge her ahead of the event in August.
