DEATHMATCH – Will He Accept The Challenge?

( – The debate about “wokeness” in business has been intensified by comments from 2024 Republican Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and billionaire “Shark Tank” star Mark Cuban. The Presidential candidate said “woke capitalism” is bad for American culture and is driving a wedge into society. He argues that companies and businesses should aim only to provide goods and products that the public wants, and that is the finality of their social role.

“The private sector – the sports stadiums of this country, the labs of this country – that’s where Americans unite, regardless of their partisan or identitarian affiliations,” Ramaswamy said.

Mark Cuban, a billionaire investor and entrepreneur, is on the other side of the discussion. He believes wokeness is good business sense and that is why so many major companies and corporations have adopted woke positions. The reason is that wokeness attracts new customers, he said. He does not consider losses and boycotts significant and said these blow over with the next news cycle.

However, Bud Light’s misfortunes persist, and the company continues its attempts to win back customers months after it faced a boycott for signing transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney to front an ad campaign. The campaign made its premiere on TikTok on April 1st and includes a Bud Light can with Mulvaney’s face emblazoned on it.

Retail giant Target has also seen a major drop in sales after its pride month promotions provoked outrage. Products included a women’s swimming costume with a “tuck-friendly” facility for males to hide their genitals as they try to pass themselves off as female. In May, the company reported a staggering 52% fall in profits for the first quarter of 2023. It officially blamed supply chain disruptions. In the midst of the scandal, CEO Brian Cornell still maintains that the choice to sell such products makes good business sense.

Cornell dismissed criticisms and said, “When we think about purpose at Target, it’s really about helping all the families, and that ‘all’ word is really important.”
