(ConservativeSense.com) – Lawmakers are questioning the objectivity of White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor after discovering financial ties to the Biden family. House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chair James Comer has requested Dr. O’Connor appear before the committee to answer questions about his involvement with the Bidens and previous assistance to the family during a 2018 hospital business investment.
Questions about O’Connor’s objectivity arose following inconsistencies about the President’s cognitive well-being in light of a widely disparaged debate performance against Donald Trump in Atlanta. Republicans also want an explanation as to why President Biden told colleagues a doctor had assessed him before the debate, but White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre subsequently denied this.
After the debate, Ms. Jean-Pierre was subjected to a press grilling on the President’s health and said he regularly checks in with his doctor. Asked if Biden had seen a neurologist, she confirmed he had done so on three occasions but could not provide details about the location or physicians.
The Press Secretary did, however, repeatedly refer reporters to a letter written by Dr. O’Connor in February that described President Biden as in good health. The letter states that “an extremely detailed neurologic exam” was undertaken and the results “reassuring.” There were no indicators of stroke, multiple sclerosis, or ascending lateral sclerosis, the letter noted.
Separate questions are also being asked about why a Parkinson’s disease specialist visited the White House eight times between last summer and this spring. Dr. Kevin Cannard is cited in the White House visitor logs during that time and met with Dr. O’Connor on at least one occasion. Jean-Pierre insisted that the President does not have Parkinson’s disease but refused to explain Dr. Cannard’s visits.
Dr. O’Connor subsequently dismissed concerns and said Cannard attended to assist in standard neurological examinations.
The President’s health has been under close media scrutiny since the Atlanta debate when he appeared tired and unable to maintain concentration.
