Biden Chooses Hunter’s Ex-Colleague to Serve as Special Counsel

( – President Biden has chosen a former colleague of his son, Hunter Biden, as a special counsel attorney. These lawyers work to protect whistleblowers and deal with Hatch Act violations, and House Oversight Committee chairman James Comer said the appointment “raises concerns” that the President is trying to “protect his son instead of whistleblowers.”

The White House announced it has nominated Hampton Dellinger to the Office of Special Counsel, and if the nomination is approved, he will lead the department. Dellinger worked alongside Hunter Biden at Boies Schiller Flexner’s Crisis Management and Government Response team, which represented Burisma, the Ukrainian gas firm at the center of corruption allegations against Biden.

Hunter Biden received millions for sitting on Burisma’s board of directors, and it is alleged that President Biden did favors for the company during that time, namely, that he arranged for a prosecutor to be fired while he was conducting investigations into Burisma. The prosecutor was Victor Shokin, and some reports say that Biden told then-President Petro Poroshenko that the Obama administration would rescind a billion dollars in aid if Shokin was not removed from office.

Emails from Boies Schiller Flexner show that Hunter Biden attended dinners and social events with Dillinger, and the two enjoyed a friendly relationship. James Comer said Dillinger’s appointment, given his connections to the president’s son, “does not instill confidence that the law will be enforced fairly.”

Mr. Comer has been investigating alleged corruption involving the Bidens and foreign businesses since Republicans took control of the House of Representatives last year. He has obtained bank records and other official documents showing payments to Hunter Biden from numerous foreign sources, including companies in Ukraine and China.

At an impeachment inquiry in September, the Republican Congressman said he struggled to gather much of the evidence he needed because investigators frequently met with brick walls. However, he vowed to continue.

The impeachment process is currently stalled due to the removal of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
